The article talks about the reasons why the Americans wanted a reformation of the government and as a result it led to the Declaration of Independence. The pursuit was to create a nation that is committed to the undisputable rights to life, liberty and independence. Leaders across America mobilized masses in every colony to give consent to the declaration so as to achieve a free nation. Thomas Paine wrote an article that was published in 1776 called “Common Sense” to secure freedom for Americans.

The “Common Sense”article provided a reminder to the people that they had been deprived of their birth right and the chains had to be broken. The content of the pamphlet provides rich information to support the thesis statement. The events of the Declaration of Independence are important due to the fact that it had a strong impact to the process of drafting the constitution.
