While there is a lot of information about the drafting of the U.S Constitution, I know little about the timeline through which the documents went through the drafting and ratification process. I, however, believe that the process was complex and marred with conflicts of interests that made it a very lengthy exercise for the United States. Even though history reveals that the process began on May 25th, 1787 through a constitutional convention in Pennsylvania, the contentious articles of the Confederation that prolonged the exercise are not clearly outlined. Also, the ratification of the U.S Constitution began immediately after the convention and ended in 29th May 1790 with Rhode Island being the last state to ratify it. I am aware that the timeline for the drafting of U.S Constitution took approximately 5 years and 9 months, though there is no clarification on the key events that influenced the convening of the Constitutional Convention and afterward. When I visited the U.s History library, I noticed that important events took place during the run-up to the convention and transition from the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution. The greatest event that shaped the drafting of U.S Constitution is the unique ratification vote of Vermont. Besides, this question is important to me because most of the issues that were contentious in the draft constitution touched on the fundamental human rights, liberties, freedoms, and general welfare of the citizens. This question is important to the society because of the complexity of diverse social, economic, and political interests of the states that were to be brought under one and how they would deal with slavery, the presidency, federal and state powers. Besides, the major role of the formerly independent states in the U.S Constitution was a significant issue that the society needs to understand to be well conversant with the contents of the U.S Constitution. How did the important events that took place during the run-up to the convention and transition from the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution influence the future of the antifederalist states? PROJECT 1: TOPIC EXPLORATION WORKSHEET This question matters to me personally because I would like to understand how the antifederalist managed to buy the idea, yet they were strongly against many policies for fear of losing control of their states and giving away the slave trade. Besides, this question will help me to understand how the events surrounding the drafting the U.S Constitution played a key role in helping the citizens of the U.S achieve their respective objectives in the U.S Constitution. This question matters to the society because the society was greatly affected by the provision of the draft constitutions that was presented for the states for ratification.
