This is a Formal Analysis for a picture (Time Transfixed - 1938, By: Rene Magritte) where we list our observations of the picture with as much detail as possible. Several principles of design, media and formal elements must be included. For example, formal elements like line, light, color, texture, space and balance should be included in this 1-2 page(s) paper. Content and Context can also be included. PLEASE NOTE, that the paper may only include information from the handwritten class notes I have took, which I will be providing with the analysis assignment paper our instructor gave out. PLEASE READ HER DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY, as I suspect the instructor is a little bit meticulous in grading. (Picture will also be provided)Writing Assignment The Formal Analysis Writing a Formal Analysis This writing assignment begins the work on the art analysis papers you will be writing. This formal analysis includes the material we discussed in class as well as all the information in your chapter. This analysis must include subject matter, formal elements, and principles of design, medium. Remember, the formal elements include line, light, color, texture, space, balance. You can also include content and context. This writing assignment will help you in further writing analysis of art. Be sure this is your original analysis. This will not be a rework of another author analysis. Consider the information discussed in class as you complete this writing assignment. Your paper will follow the format required in your syllabus. Papers should be minimum one to maximum two pages in length. All assignments must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. Your paper must include your notes taken in class. No outside information for this assignment. It is YOUR observations that you write from. Grading will be based on coherence, completeness (i.e. all of the requirements listed above), depth of analysis, and what I perceive to be the soundness of your claims. Grading will also be based on the mechanics of your writing (e.g., grammar, sentence structure, spelling, etc.) so be sure to proofread your papers. Return to class with two copies of your paper. You will print out a hard copy of this assignment, you will attach your notes/draft written in your Art 101 class. Both of these items must be included to earn a grade on this paper. You must have both pages typed and stapled, there will not be a stapler provided for you. Both the notes and the paper must have your first and last name and which course you are in on a cover page. This paper will be returned to you and feedback will help you on writing your museum paper assignment. Do not use outside source material for this assignment. This assignment will be graded on only your own observations from the materials discussed and images viewed in class.
