In this first simulation you will practice and perfect your (virtual) titration technique. You will set up a titration experiment in which you will titrate sodium hydroxide (the titrant) of known concentration into sulfurous acid (the analyte). Although you already know the concentration of the sulfurous acid you will use this system to practice your technique. You will assess your technique based on comparing the concentration for the sulfurous acid that you determine from your titration to the known concentration of the acid.
BEYOND LABZ INSTRUCTIONS
Download the Beyond Labz worksheet for Titration PracticePreview the document. Print this worksheet so that you can follow the directions on what to do, fill it in and submit it. (Please use this worksheet from Canvas instead of looking in the Beyond Labz software as it contains significant modifications from that available from Beyond Labz.)
Now launch the Beyond Labz software, and open the Chemistry Lab.
To launch the simulation click "Titrations" from the options at the top of the main Beyond Labz window (its in the top left corner). The titration lab area will then open.
Follow the instructions in the worksheet. It is a good idea to read through the entire worksheet first before you begin so that you are aware of what is expected.
As you progress through the simulation, fill in data and observations on the worksheet in blue or black ink. No pencil! Even though this is a virtual lab this is good lab practice and also important to make sure your submitted work will be clear enough to grade.
To help you get started you can watch a short prelab demo of this simulation that I made as a narrated powerpoint presentation Preview the documentor video ( note i will give u log in info, to see the video)
