Description
This course is designed to have students demonstrate the ability to use fundamental concepts of geometry including definitions, tools of geometry, and to recognize geometry as an axiomatic system.
Course Student Learning Outcomes
1.1 State problems about points, lines, and planes.
1.2 Solve problems involving segments, rays, and angles.
1.3 Apply inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, and axiomatic systems.
1.4 Write formal geometric proofs.
1.5 Write conditional, converse, inverse, and contrapositive statements.
2.1 Classify different types of triangles.
2.2 Apply the properties of congruent triangles.
2.3 Apply properties of parallel lines, transversals, and angles.
2.4 Solve problems involving angles and sides of polygons.
2.5 Solve application problems involving triangles and parallel lines.
3.1 Identify the properties of different quadrilaterals.
3.2 Analyze the properties of special quadrilaterals.
3.3 Use the properties of similar polygons.
3.4 Solve problems involving the Pythagorean Theorem.
3.5 Apply the triangle inequality theorem.
4.1 Use the properties of circles and related components.
4.2 Determine the measure of inscribed angles and arcs.
4.3 Solve problems involving chords, secants, and tangent of circles.
4.4 Calculate the area of polygons.
5.1 Describe the behavior of lines and planes in space.
