Experienced Physics &Maths Tutor
I have been working as a freelance tutor for upper high school and university level mathematics and physics in ACT since 2012. As well as tutoring, I have taught first year undergraduate physics across the syllabus at ANU since 2016. I have also taught as a substitute at ANU College, working with final year high school students.
As well as formal education roles, I work and volunteer in science outreach. Through outreach with ANU, I inspire members of the public and high school students to get involved with physics, explaining the role of my own research, ANU's current research foci, and the current state of physics research at large. Since 2015, I have volunteered with the National Youth Science Forum, engaging with final-year high school students to experience real-world science and inspiring them to pursue a career in STEM subjects.
My approach to tutoring is tailoring an individual approach for each student, working with them to build confidence. I do this by grounding our work in what they already know – often more than they themselves realize - before building on the lessons they receive in school. I work with each student to establish their preferred learning style, factoring in any additional needs.
I’m proud of my track record of retaining students for multiple years as they progress through their education. This often extends to other students in the same family, as well as referrals to family and friends.
