Introduction
of Should School Involve Political Issue Discussion
Education is an important
parameter of society and different issues arise for topics that must or should
not be discussed in school with its positive and negative impact on society as
well as development of students. The main elements of whole-person education
are moral, civic and national education that are having goals of developing
positive values in students for learning and teaching different subjects with
providing learning experiences. Values of students are identified; objectives
are verified and reasonable judgments are made on various issues that can play
its role in different stages of development so effective actions can be taken
according to issues in a future life (JONES, 2018). Moral and civic
education is promoted in school by realizing seven priority values to students
that include perseverance, responsibility, commitment, respect for others, national
identity, integrity and care for others. Learning activities can strengthen by
making positive values towards everyday events of life.
After the education system of the
United Kingdom, education in Hong Kong has been modified. It is made compulsory
and free for primary students and junior secondary school. First, three years
of secondary education are also compulsory.
Students are not included in
politic talks because of which students do not know about expressing their
rights in different matters. School is the place where students are taught and
they are avoided to participate in political talks that made them less powerful
and more vulnerable. Politics is affecting children and to flourish children in
an effective way with a sense of justice and injustice, good and evil, it is
important to talk about politics (Baquedano-López,
Patricia, & Hernández, 2013).

Students also require being aware
of social issues. Independent thinking is promoted by providing political
education to students in school as school is the only place where they can get
knowledge and information about all relevant issues in society. Students must
be well aware of society and its issues as it can provoke knowledge of justice
and injustice. Moral knowledge of students can be increased by providing them
information for social and political issues. It can versatile student’s
knowledge and make them more practice in analyzing things (Journell &
Buchanan, 2013).
Youngsters show more interest in discussing social issues as they want to know
every critical aspect. If they are provided with political knowledge, they can
perform better and in a mature way when they start their professional life. Some
youngsters are more interested because they care more to correct issues in
society and it can lead to positive change in surroundings.
Academic
achievement of students of Should School Involve Political Issue Discussion
Hong Kong is having a highly
ranked education system because it follows the education system of the UK that
is highly ranked education system and it is also having high competitive place
among 141 economies. Effective critical thinking in students can also maintain and
all the attained knowledge is experienced. By increase in political discussion
in schools, academic results can be increased effectively. School teachers are
not only responsible to teach textbook knowledge only but they are also
responsible to teach them about society and its raised issues. By warning them
about rising social issues, they can know about all of the happenings of
society (Komarraju & Meera,
2011).
Student’s brain is also stimulated by social knowledge and habit of critical
thinking can be developed in students. They are developed by providing
multi-thinking ability so they can get more success in life.
Students are
encouraged to create output by the cooperation of different teachers
It is difficult for teachers of
different subjects with various cultures to communicate with each other. By
discussing various topics other than education, the relationship among students
and teacher can be increased that can help students to ask about any question
that rise in his mind and lea to critical development of his mind also
providing ease to his future life (Journell &
Buchanan, 2013).
By discussing social issues, interaction is increased as it is the most current
topic that can be discussed among them. This interaction can also increase
understanding of each other that is also beneficial in an educational career
and they can more clearly describe education topics as well.
There can be a significant and
positive impact on society when there is great political education with free
atmosphere to discuss it. People can vote in many democratic societies at the
age of 18. At age of 18, most people think that they are adults (DRUMMOND,
2015).
The educational path is selected by some of the students and they commit to doing
social work. When they are having good social awareness, they can take
responsibility for their future in an effective way. They are having political
knowledge so they can vote with more responsibility to the responsible
political party (Komarraju & Meera,
2011).
Because of this, it is important for students to have enough social and
political knowledge and they can be well taught only when they are students and
knowledge is provided to them from start of their educational career as school
is considered their second home and it is required by school to teach them all
political influences so it is important for schools to involve political
issues. It is required to teach students about political concerns because it
can provide the freedom and core value of society can be increased. For
increased improvement of society, it is important for schools to include social
and political issues in the study. Social awareness can be effectively
increased with increased participation of students that can also aid government
to provide effective policies for improvement in processes of citizens (Baquedano-López, Patricia, & Hernández,
2013).
Conclusion of Should School
Involve Political Issue Discussion
Political issues are important to
discuss in schools as it can improve their social knowledge and can aware of them
for all of the issues related to politics that can help them in their future to
support effective political parties or to improve society in better way. However,
some of the critics said that schools must not include social and political
talks as it can alter their ways and change their way from the study. They also
analyzed that it can depress them to study more effectively and can disturb the
actual meaning of school as students will not pay full concentration on their
study and will focus more on political aspects. But there are more supportive
studies for encouraging involvement of political studies in schools as it is
having better impact on their development so it must be included but with not
disturbing school studies.
