For Activity 7, please closely read Chapter Five, “The Flow of Creativity” from Csikszentmihalyi’s book Creativity.
After you have read and thought about the chapter, click Activity 7: The Flow of Creativity. Within this topic, click “Create Thread.” Enter the subject line of your choice. It should be something that calls attention to the topic(s) you will be writing about in your post. This detailed post has two parts:
Part I.
In April of 2013, the class Creativity and the Evolution of Culture hosted the 75-minute, Q & A videoconference, The Role of Flow in a Life Well-Lived, with Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Jeanne Nakamura. You can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IChCqIhKwvw&feature=youtu.be
Describe an insight you gained from the presentation that expanded what you learned about Flow in the reading, or an interesting connection you heard between Flow and your major or personal interest.
Part II.
Do one of the following:
a. Identify the major components of Flow experiences and apply them to your own experience of flow. Choose one activity in which you've experienced flow and describe as best you can how your experience meets the criteria described by Csikszentmihalyi. Include a mention of any factors that have interfered with your flow or prevented you from achieving it.
b. Go to YouTube and watch "Turbolenza Parkour - Following The Flow." There is no dialogue in the video. Watch and describe how you see the major components of flow described in the chapter applying to the scenes in the video.
This detailed post is worth 4 points and is due on Wednesday, September 30 at Midnight.
