CadLAB 6 – HATCHING AND ANNOTATION
Purpose and Outcomes Hatching provides an attractive means of showing different materials in a drawing. Chapter 10 provides the necessary tools to give you control over your creation of hatches. Chapter 11 Adding Text provides you the tools necessary to annotate your drawings with your options of text styles, sizes, text box size and shape, justification and alignment.
Assignment
1. Watch the Demonstration.
There will be no demonstration for this CAD Lab at the beginning of class. Continue working on CAD05 instead.
2. Complete the Chapter 9 exercises as follows:
a. OPEN 8.5x11 Title Block Port.dwg and complete Exercises 9-1 through 9- 9 from model space in 8.5x11 Title Block Port.dwg instead of acad.dwt. SAVEAS Ch 9 Ex [Your Name].dwg. Continue with this drawing and complete Exercises 9-10 through 9-12, placing the new objects to the right of the objects created in Exercises 9-1 through 9-9. When completed, go to the 8.5x11 Title Block Port layout, and in paper space fill out the Title Block with CAD06 EX 9-1THRU 9-9 in the Project box, your name in the Name box, your initials where XXX is indicated, and the date you complete the drawing in the corresponding DESIGN and CAD rows of the title block.
b. While still in the 8.5 x 11 Title Block Port layout, go into model space by
typing MS, zoom extents, make sure that everything shows up large enough to see clearly (if not, move the objects closer together) and plot the drawing from paper space. Submit the hard copy. Do not email the drawing to the instructor.
3. Open your Project 8-5 from CAD05. Complete Project 9-5. Note that the steps
should be drawn so that the free-form patio steps have constant tread width of 1’- 0”.
4. Open EX10-1.dwg and complete Exercises 10-1 through 10-4. EX10-1.dwg is available in Canvas. SAVEAS “CAD06 Ch10Ex1-4 [Your Name].dwg”.
5. Open EX10-5.dwg and complete Exercises 10-5 through 10-9. EX10-5.dwg is
available in Canvas. Email your completed drawing to siegenm@seattleu.edu as “CAD06 Ch10Ex5-9 [Yourname]”.

6. Complete Project 10-5. Save this drawing separately as “CAD06 Proj10- 5[YourName]”. You do not need to submit this drawing at this time, but be sure to keep it in your files.
