Rather, you should identify the key differences and similarities that will impact your decisions and profitability. Most importantly, you should use this analysis to determine your current competitive advantages and ways to develop additional advantages. Andrews: In what segments are Andrews’ products positioned? Traditional, High End, Performance, Traditional. How well positioned are Andrews’ products (i.e. how close to the sweet spot)? Most of the products are not in the “sweet spot” area. What would you guess is Andrews’ strategy? Andrews doesn’t know what they are doing. They have created cheap products but haven’t done anything to them. How big a competitor is Andrews to you? Why do you say this? Not at all. We don’t even think about them. Our products are doing “okay”. Baldwin: In what segments are Baldwin’s products positioned? Traditional, Low End, High End, Performance, Size How well positioned are Baldwin’s products (i.e. how close to the sweet spot)? Most of the products are not even near the “sweet spot” area. What would you guess is Baldwin’s strategy? There is no strategy. They are not doing well. They have been making low and traditional products - close to the price that we have. Only 10% of market share. It doesn’t seem like they are going along with customer criteria. How big a competitor is Baldwin to you? Why do you say this? Not at all. We don’t even think about them.
