Getting Started

During the course of your graduate program of study, you will be introduced to many business disciplines requiring many types of insight and decisions. Listening to the words of many different people who speak the different languages of their discipline and their culture will be necessary. As we listen and make business decisions, our moral and ethical foundation must be preeminent. Developing a personal ethical statement is the first step in making ethical decisions.  Throughout this course, you will be working on the various components of your personal ethics framework. These pre-writing assessments and assignments will help you measure performance with respect to important ethical behaviors, skills, or concepts discussed throughout the course. These pre-writing assignments are essential to your final paper due in Workshop Six.This assignment will help you begin to identify the behaviors and qualities you exhibit in your moral decision-making process.  These self-assessments will help you to identify the behaviors you want as part of your ethical framework.Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

• Evaluate one's personal ethical standards and create a personal/professional framework to guide decision making compatible with a Christian worldview.

2.1 Self-AssessmentReproductive Imagination. Add up scores for items 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 18 and 19 (Range 10-70) *(Reproductive Imagination-awareness of contextual factors that affect moral perceptions, awareness of what moral conflicts or dilemmas may arise in a situation) Productive Imagination. Add up scores for items 6, 11, 14, 16, 17 and 22 (Range 7-42) *(Productive Imagination- a reframing of a problem from a different perspective)Creative Imagination. Add up scores for items 3, 8, 9, 15, 20 and 21 (Range 7-42) *(Creative Imagination- develops alternatives to problems that are novel and morally acceptable) 

Instructions

1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.


2. In Meeting the Ethical Challenge of Leadership read: 
   
   
   
   1. Chapter 2: section Theories about Other People, Theories about Ourselves, Failure of Moral Imagination, Moral Disengagement, Turning Immoral Conduct into Moral Conduct, Minimizing Harm, and Devaluing Victims.
   
   
   
   


3. View the video Moral Imagination.


4. In your textbook locate and complete:
   
   
   
   1. Self-Assessment 2.1: Moral Imagination Scale in Chapter 2
   
   
   
   


5. With clear, insightful critical thinking, reflect and answer the following questions:
   
   
   
   1. What does your score on the Moral Imagination Scale assessment (Self-Assessment 2.1) reveal about your moral imagination? 
   
   
   2. After reading your textbook did you agree with the outcome of Self-Assessment 2.1?
   
   
   3. Analyze the outcome of the Self-assessment and describe your moral decision-making process by discussing an ethical dilemma you were faced with in the past and how you handled that situation. Did your decision in the ethical dilemma align with your score on the Moral Imagination Scale Self-Assessment?
   
   
   
   


6. Your reflection should be at least one full page in length. Be sure to include your name on the paper and use proper grammar and spelling. Remember the work you do here will benefit you in completing your final paper in Workshop Six. 


7. When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself (name your assignment “LastName_MoralImagination") and submit a copy to your instructor by the end of the workshop.
