Shelly Cashman Word 2016 | Module 3: SAM Project 1b Manu Bay Surf Gear ENHANCE A BUSINESS LETTER WITH GRAPHICS AND A TABLE GETTING STARTED • Open the file SC_WD16_3b_FirstLastName_1.docx, available for download from the SAM website. • Save the file as SC_WD16_3b_FirstLastName_2.docx by changing the “1” to a “2”. o • If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically. With the file SC_WD16_3b_FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer. o If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website. PROJECT STEPS 1. You are writing a business letter to a website designer who is upgrading your website. To fit more content on a single page of the letter, change the document margins to Moderate. 2. Change the theme to Office so your professional document uses standard fonts and colors. 3. To create a letterhead, insert a shape with text as follows: 4. a. At the beginning of the document, insert a Round Same Side Corner Rectangle from the Rectangles section of the Shapes gallery. b. Resize the shape to a height of 0.6" and a width of 6.2". c. Set the position of the shape to Position in Top Left with Square Text Wrapping [Mac Hint: Position in Top Left]. d. Change the text wrapping to Top and Bottom. e. Change the shape style to Subtle Effect – Blue, Accent 5. f. Add the text Manu Bay Surf Gear to the shape. g. Increase the font size of the text to 26 pt. Format the picture of the surfer as follows: a. Resize the picture to 33% of its original size. b. Recolor the picture using Blue, Accent color 5 Dark. c. Move the picture to the right of the Round Same Side Corner Rectangle as shown in Figure 1 below. Figure 1: Formatted Surfer Picture 5. In the address line (“1105 South Shore Avenue…manubay.cengage.com”), insert a space after the phone number, and then insert a filled diamond symbol (in the Symbol gallery, select the Symbol font and character code 168). 6. Convert the manubay.cengage.com hyperlink to regular text to make the address line easier to read. 7. Apply the default Bottom Border to the address line paragraph. 8. Add a left tab stop at 5.0" to the date line “April 10, 2018”. Insert a tab so that the complete date is aligned with the new tab stop. 9. Merge the two cells in the first row of the Manu Bay Surf Gear Product Lines table, and then center the text in the new merged cell. 10. Change the font to Calibri for the text in the second row of the table. 11. Add a new row to the bottom of the table with the text shown in Figure 2 below. In the blank paragraph near the bottom of the page (after the paragraph “I want to expand the website…the following phases:”), insert a table with two columns and four rows. Enter the table data shown in Figure 3 below. Figure 3: Data for New Table 13. 14. Format the new table as follows: a. Apply the Grid Table 5 Dark – Accent 5 style. b. Format the table using AutoFit Contents. c. Center the text in column 2, row 1. d. Center the table on the page. At the bottom of the document, format the picture of the wave as follows: a. Resize the picture to a height of 0.4" and a width of 7.0". b. Recolor the picture using Blue, Accent color 5 Light. Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
