I’m stuck on a English question and need an explanation.
In the article entitled "Family Guy and Freud: Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious," Antonia Peacocke discusses the relationship between the show "Family Guy" and Freud's book that connects inappropriate jokes to the unconscious.
Question 1:
Toward the conclusion of her essay, the author says, " Jokes all have their origins, and the funniest ones are those that hit home the hardest; if we listen to Freud, these are the ones that let our animalistic and aggressive impulses surface from the unconscious" (157). Based on this quotation, do you think that a society should not put restrictions at all on inappropriate jokes as long as they are meant to satirize cultural norms in the society? Please support your answer with evidence from the article and from your personal experience.
Question 2:
Has the author succeeded to convince you that "Family Guy" is not that bad of a show? Please support your answer with evidence from the article.
Length: 200 Words for both questions.
