Resume Development – (IM)
These materials introduce the Fox Signature resume, a vital tool in effective “impression management” (IM) and an important building block of student continuous improvement. Topics covered include the recommended three-bullet format and how best to transfer individual skills to a business context. The CSPD staff also provides constructive feedback during an in-depth individual resume critique.
The Fox “Signature” Resume
The contents of your resume should present your education, skills, and accomplishments as a personal “brand.” In much the same way, the CSPD resume style is another strategic tool designed to promote your brand and position you for competitive advantage. Accordingly, we encourage students to adopt and to view the “Fox Signature format” as a value-added enhancement that identifies Fox students as competent and promising business professionals.

Resume Development
Remember the basics
Resumes are often the applicant’s initial contact with prospective employers. The most effective documents are one-page, fact-based, and focus on accomplishments and skills rather than on basic responsibilities or job duties.
Resumes should…
Have all sections of the resume be listed in reverse chronological order – present to past
Avoid use of the first person singular or possessive (I, me, my)
Start sentences with action verbs: “Managed team of…”; “Designed spreadsheets…”
Maintain consistent agreement of subject and verb (parallelism)
Contain quantifiable evidence where possible, i.e. size of budget managed, number of persons supervised, percentage of sales increased etc.
Be easy on the eye (legible 10 to 12 size font and Times New Roman font style) with 1” margins and visual appeal
Contain NO obvious references to age, gender, race, or marital status
Be completely error-free

BULLET 2 - Highlight significant achievements, special projects. There are many ways to place your job progress in context. Do you interface often with high-level executives, high volume or special attention clients?
