Using Hand Sanitizers Correctly!
Four steps to using instant sanitizer:

1. Use instant hand sanitizer if hands are not soiled. If soiled hand washing is preferred.

2. Apply a dime size amount of instant hand sanitizer to the palm of one hand.

3. Rub hands together covering all surfaces of hands including back of hands and between fingers.

4. Rub hands until waterless hand sanitizer is dry and absorbed. Can be done up to 5 times before washing hands again. (CDC, 2016).

Proper hand washing techniques
Five steps to hand washing:

1. Wet hands with clean water and apply soap.

2. Gently rub hands together with the soap. Be sure to lather the back of your hands as well as between fingers and under nails. (Careful to not forget to wash the thumbs also).

3. Scrub hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Try slowly singing “Happy Birthday Song” twice.

4. Rinse your hands well under clean running water.

5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air drier (CDC 2016).
