In “The :Other Side” Is Not Dumb” Sean Blanda believes that we are not all open minded people. We let social media have a part in our opinion from what others believe in. In “Why Rural America Voted Vance asserts that... He also claims... (See ch. 2 for more signal verbs.) Blanda believes that we are closed of people and if it’s not something we believe we won’t like it or won’t understand the reasoning behind it. Robert Leonard for Trump” Robert Leonard explains that rural counties have a lot to do with Donald Trump being president. Although some people do have different believes as others we can still respect them as people without feeling bad. Leonard believes in some ways we can be less divided in America would be to understand why people do the things they do, vote for the people they vote for. Sometimes you will have conservative friends, but that doesn’t mean you don’t like them or don’t respect them. Barack Obama In “Howard University Commencement Speech” Barack Obama speaks to the graduating class of how important it is to keep moving forward with what they have accomplished. That this was made for them and everything will continue to prosper because they will not be the last. In “The New Jim Crow” Michelle Alexander believes that race issues towards African American males were really bad before. This was people’s reality and even though slavery isn’t a thing any more people are still being treated unfair. Obama believes that this graduating class can continue to prosper and inspire other people. They have a line of people that have had a good education going to Howard so they know the best of the best. I feel with this we can be less divided by trying to understand what people of color go through. We will never know the struggle of the life they live everyday so understanding would help being less divided. Michelle Alexander This can help with the separation in America because we want to get out of this and be able to all be treated equally.
