This is a critical skill that you need to develop before you begin working as a medical coder. Assignment Purpose: This assignment asks you to review scenarios and assign the correct ICD-10-PCS code using a computerized encoder. Assignment Directions; Imagine that you were recently promoted from an entry level coder to an inpatient coder in the University Hospital coding department. Your supervisor is happy with your level of ICD-10-PCS assignment on short scenarios and now provides you with longer case scenarios to code. Follow the steps below to complete this assignment: 1. Access Find-A-Code in the AHIMA Vlab by following these steps: a. Select the link to the Vlab link from your course in Blackboard. b. Select the Find-A-Code link from the vLab home page. c. You are now on the Find-A-Code homepage. Select ICD-10-PCS Codes at the top. d. Select ICD-10-PCS Index e. Select the Index dropdown menu for Procedure Code Sets: ICD-10-PCS Index. Use Find-A-Code to look up your ICD-10-PCS codes by typing the root operation for each procedure. Type the first few letters for the root operation in the box and press Enter on your keyboard. 2. Review the scenarios in the chart below. For each scenario, identify which medical term(s) or phrase(s) you will use to code and its appropriate root operation. 3. Use Find-A-Code to assign the correct ICD-10-PCS code(s) to the scenarios in the attached chart. Type your answers directly into the chart. 4.
