You have read Chapter 5 in Morrison, G. S. (2011) and reflected on teaching children to learn using standards. For this assignment, reflect on what you have learned about standards. As early childhood teachers implement standards, administer tests, and apply accountability provisions, controversies and conflicts arise.
Incorporate issues related to curriculum in the early primary grades in a PowerPoint Slides presentation that you could share with colleagues or pre-service early childhood teachers to clarify the role of contemporary standards in the delivery of early childhood programs. Be sure to include the following:
- How early childhood programs can comply with federal and state program standards to help children learn literacy, math, and science skills and still be developmentally appropriate.
- Explain how standards are meeting their intended purpose of helping ensure that each and every child achieves and learns.
- Share the pros and cons of standards.
Include appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as “speaker notes” for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.
Length: 10-15 slides (with separate introduction, conclusion, and reference slides)
Presenter’s Notes Length: 50-100 words for each slide (Presenter’s Notes are to be posted in the section of the PowerPoint that says “Click here to add notes”.)
References: A minimum of 5 scholarly resources is required. You must include your textbook as one of the resources.
Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate. Save the file as PPT with the correct course code information.
Your presentation should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University's Academic Integrity Policy.
