CAMPBELL ASSIGNMENT DIRECTIONS
Campbell Assignment Outline
Students must follow this assigned outline. Deviation from this outline will result in a grade reduction
1st Paragraph-Clearly identify the author's thesis and describe why the author wrote the book. Remember that a thesis answers a question.
2nd Paragraph-Describe the sources the author used for evidence. Describe the sources clearly and provide a brief description of the type of information the author found in those sources.
3rd Paragraph-Concisely describe the key elements of the author’s argument in chapters one and two.
4th Paragraph-Concisely describe the key element of the author’s argument in chapter three.
5th Paragraph-Concisely describe the key element of the author’s argument in chapter four.
6th Paragraph-Concisely describe the author’s argument in chapter five.
7th Paragraph-Critique the book by arguing whether the author proved the book’s thesis or did not. Do not write about like or disliking the book.
Format
The review will end somewhere on page four. Anything written beyond page four will not count towards your grade.
1-A separate cover page with your name, date the assignment is due December 10, 2020, Campbell Book Review History 270, Fall 2020.
2-You will use a 12-point font, 1'' inch margins, double-spaced, and no extra spaces between paragraphs. Format your word processor program appropriately.
3-The assignment will end somewhere on page four. The cover page does not count towards the length requirement.
4-You cannot copy sentences directly out of the book or use quotations.
5-Do not use a personal voice in the essay, for example do not say “I believe” or “I think.”
6-Use spell and grammar check to catch any careless errors. 8-Do not use contractions in your essay. For example, spell out don’t as do not.
