Open minitab file without minitab

05/12/2021 Client: muhammad11 Deadline: 2 Day

Homework

There are 4 sets of homework, one set for each block. Some problems in the homework require using Minitab program and data files. Minitab program is installed on all the PCs on SCSU campus. Off campus, users can access Minitab program through APPS ANYWHERE (virtual lab), contact Technology Help at SCSU E-mail: huskytech@stcloudstate.edu; Phone: (320) 308-7000 for assistance.

All the data files for Minitab program are posted on the D2L in Minitab Data for Homework module. Download the Minitab data files on your USB (or a PC with Minitab program installed). Please read MINITAB GUIDE in the pages 13-14 in the text book to get familiar with starting Minitab, entering data, opening worksheet and etc. For a problem that is required to use Minitab, note the Minitab Guide reference.

All your homework is due at the period in the schedule by submitting in the submission box on D2L. On your syllabus, the due date for individual blocks are indicated as well as on the corresponding submission box. The submission box will be closed after the due date.

Late homework should be submitted by email within 5 days from the due date; homework submitted late without permission in advance or without a legitimate reason will be subject to a 50% penalty. Homework submitted late but with permission in advance or legitimate reason will be subjected to a penalty rate of my discretion. NO homework for any blocks will be accepted after five days from the due date or the last day of class.

I prefer to have the homework submitted in word format. Use copy and paste to include Minitab outputs and graphs in the Word file to submit. Submit all questions in each block in one packet with clear identification information such as homework number, the name of the student, course number.

5 steps using t or z (as a test statistic and It is 5 step critical value approach) are:

1. State H0 and H1

2. Determine the level of significance of test: α such as 0.01. 0.05 or 0.1

3. Set-up critical value(s) – this means determining what test statistic to use and rejection area(s) – this step is a combination of steps 3 and 4 in the 6 step Critical value approach in page 364 of text. {For p-value, reject H0 if p-value < α}

4. Calculate the test statistic (use t = 0.11 from above Minitab output)

5. Make inference – conclusion

5 steps using p-Value (as a test statistic) are:

1. State H0 and H1

2. Determine the level of significance of test: α such as 0.01. 0.05 or 0.1

3. Set-up critical value(s): reject H0 if p-value < α

4. Calculate the test statistic (use p-value = 0.910 from above Minitab output)

5. Make inference – conclusion

Block 3 Homework Problems (30 pts):

3.1 χ 2 - Test of Independence (15 pts)

In c-chart options box, click Tests tab and choose to Perform all tests for special causes from the drop-down list, and click S limits tab enter 1 2 3, OK and OK (or Refer MG4 in pages 636-7)

Copy control chart and session window, paste on a Word file to submit

Only X-bar chart apply 8 tests and all others (P, C and R-charts) apply the first 4 tests.

Refer the list of tests in the References Module in D2L content

4.4 Do problem 3 parts c (construct payoff table) and e (converting payoff table to opportunity table) in page 671 (10 pts)

Converting the payoff table to opportunity loss (OL) table

Refer Table 3 or Table 4 in pages 670-1 of textbook

For the Payoff table (Table 3);

A1: Gradual

A2 Concentrated

E1: low demand

1

-5

E2: High demand

4

10

You may think this way to get opportunity loss table:

· if in Low demand, E1, you will choose gradual alternative and profit is 1, OL of gradual action is 0, but OL of the Concentrated alternative is 6, because you lose 5, in fact, you could make 1, so the amount of regret(OL) is 6

OL = largest payoff in the line (event) – the payoff of the cell

· If in High demand, E2, you will choose Concentrated, OL is 0, for Gradual OL= 10 -4 = 6

Key is to think in one event i.e. low demand at a time and move to next event i.e. high demand

The Opportunity Loss table is:

A1: Gradual

A2 Concentrated

E1: low demand

0

6 (1-(-5))

E2: High demand

6 (10- 4)

0

4.5 Do problem 7 in page 679 (10 pts) Refer examples in pp 672-679
