Paper Details
For the Final, if you were in class the day the Presentations were due (December 5), you joined a group for the Roleplaying Activity that we will do on the day of the Final.
The Roleplaying Handout is included as a photo below.
Here is the Summary of the Video Games and Action Figures the class created that you can use in your Groups as you build your side's point. Group One will argue IN FAVOR of the games and action figures (you are all on the same side), and Group Two will argue AGAINST the games and action figures. If you want to create games to give additional examples, that's fine.
FOR THE ROLEPLAYING: Next week, the Toy Board (Group Three) will run the Meeting, and here are some rules for roleplaying:
1. Each person needs a name and a connection to the group. This should not be your real name. Example: My name is Mandy Mendez, and I worked as the Lead Designer on "Sunshine and Lollipops make a Rainbow."
2. During the Roleplaying, stay in character! This is not Mt SAC; it is Gainsville, Florida, where the Toy Board (or its new title) reviews toys and games to decide whether they can remain on the market or not
3. EACH PERSON SPEAKS at the meeting. Everyone in the group should have a story or an example to explain. For example, if you are a child who was hurt by playing "The War," you need to explain what about the game was harmful to you. Be specific!
4. The Toy Board will run the meeting. MAKE NOTES about your Rules (everyone should have notes) so you won't forget what you want to say.
After the meeting, the Toy Board will go outside and make a final decision about whether the games and toys will stay on the market or not.
THEN you will all write a short written response to what happened; I will have prompts that you will choose from and respond to. So there is a short written part at the end of the Roleplaying.
DISCUSS THE TWO GAMES WE CREATE IN CLASS BELOW, communicate with group members, and/or ask to join a group.
THE GAMES:
VIDEO GAME #1: "Dead Maui II"
Premise: A Team of Olympic athletes crashes on Maui and must fight against indigenous people and other scary things to survive.
Main Characters: Bruce Jenner, Michael Owens, Nancy Kerrigan, Usain Bolt
Game Play: RPG – multiplayer – Co-op Mode
COMPLAINTS: Vulgar, profanity, skimpy bathing suits, nudity, and the
Rating too low according to some people (it should be rated M for Mature but is rated E for everone).
Video Game #2: "Holy Moly" (for younger players)
Premise: This is an Adventure game where you catch moles out of their holes. Players are called Hunters and you choose weapons to kill the moles (knives, clubs, guns, grenades). There is the Girl Scout level and the Boy Scout Level.
Names of moles: Molester Mole, Speedy Mole, Drunken Mole
COMPLAINTS: Molester mole wins too often; Speedy is not fast but speedy in negative ways. Drunken mole is always sober.
IN YOUR GROUP: Everyone needs a NAME and/or TITLE and a CONNECTION TO THE SITUATION. Every person will speak at the meeting. Each person needs a different story to tell. Plan your group’s strategy, and FILL IN THE BLANKS WITH DETAILS AND “FACTS”
My Job introduces the image of the character of the video game#2, You need to give full play to your imagination to describe the character's appearance, character and life experience. ONLY VIDEO GAME #2 HOLY MOLY!!!
