memo Performance Lawn Equipment To: J. Kenneth Valentine From: [Your name] Perform ance Lawn Date: 12/7/2015 Equipment Re: Business Case Analysis (PLE) headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri which is a privately owned designer and producer of traditional lawn mowers used by home owners. This equipment is built primarily for a niche market consisting of large commercial complexes, lawn care service providers, private homeowners with five or more acres, and government (federal, state, and local) parks, building complexes, and military bases. The greatest concentration of customers in the U.S. us on the Eastern Seaboard, California, southeast, and central states. Outside the U.S., PLE’s sales include European markets, growing South American markets, and developing markets in the Pacific Rim and China. The prices for PLE products for the past five years have increased for mower and tractor prices. Each month total revenue fluxuates due to seasonal changes. The revenue is lower in the winter months around October to January than it is in the warmer months each year and this trend is the same for industry sales. This indicates that productivity increases during summer months, as do sales, making it the customers preferred season to buy products. When calculating the total sales, we had to take into account both the mower and the tractor sales by adding them together. The total operational and interest expenses, as well as the unit production cost, all have significantly increased. Based on the forecasted trend lines for the next three years of each graph: sales revenue, cost of goods sold, operating expense, and interest expense, they have projected a positive slope. Previous years have shown increased net incomes, so it is expected that they will continue to increase.
