As a teacher we can’t just be knowledgeable of the curriculum that we are teaching, but if we want to reach our students we must provide the leadership and guidance as the shepherd in the 23rd Psalms. The role of the shepherd is one of the strongest relationships because the sheep depend on the shepherd for their existence. The shepherd feeds, water, and protects its sheep. In schools and classrooms, the teacher depicts the role of the shepherd and the students are characterized as the sheep. This concept in Psalms 23 reminds me that I have the responsibility to make sure the needs of all my students are meet, but this entail building positive relationships with my students.
In order to build positive relationships, I must have a vision of what I want to see in my students, because Jeremiah 29:11 so wonderfully express to us that God know the thoughts that he think toward us and they are thoughts of peace and not evil, to give us success and meet our students learning goals
Just as Rita Pierson brilliantly stated in her lecture “Hidden, the value and importance of human connection is relationship.” She so profoundly brought to our attention some great quotes from others identifying relationships being essential for learning to take place such as getting to know our students, their background, and who they are connected with. These are important elements to have in order to form that lasting relationship needed to guide our students to become champions that fight to get the best. I eco with Rita Pierson to become a champion which I am born to be I must understand the power of connection to reach one student at a time and teach one student at a time.

Discussion 6.
I would be a "champion" to my students by forming a teacher-student relationship with them. I would get to know each of my students. I want them to have a safe and comfortable environment, where they want to come to class each and everyday to learn. When going over activities I want all my students to understand. I want my students to feel comfortable to ask for help when they are not understanding. I will make lessons that will have everyone attention and engaged. Before the students leave let them write down one thing they have learned. This way you can go back and focus on what they did not understand. Having a relationship with my students where they feel safe enough to ask for help. Most students today are afraid or ashamed to ask for help, because they are worried about what other students might say. If all students are involved in the lessons this would eliminate that problem. Also they can get into groups and work with their peers if they are not understanding. This way their peers can break it down to where they can understand. When it’s time to take tests I will make sure everyone is understanding by given pretests. With a pretest we can see just where our students are and where they need that extra help at. I also will let students stay after school for extra help and prepare them for that posttest. Just letting your students know that you are here for them and they can do anything they put their minds too.

Character is a normal word that has the impact that size of an elephant. Elephants in a room cannot be hidden nor can one’s true character. Children are the best detectives because of their innocence when it comes to seeking out who has their best interest at heart. Mrs. Pierson emphasized in the video telling a coworker that, “children do not learn from people they do not like.” In agreement, as adults we know it is hard to receive information from cruel, mean, and natural unhappy people because we are to distract by their edginess. Relationships are the building blocks to helping bridge the gaps of hardships in life and the greatness of learning. Mrs. Rita mentioned. “We are born to make a difference!”
Being a champion in the classroom for our students means various things. Counseling, feeding, clothing, comforting then maybe teaching can take place. We must help our students reach a level of comfort so that their mind can be ready to receive information. As a child, it is hard to learn with an empty belly, worried about home life, or being the soul caretaker for younger siblings. Teaching in poverty-stricken areas, we are fulfilling our duties in the Christian and biblical world view by helping God’s children inside out become the best version of themselves. Mrs. Pierson opened the video with this infamous quote of hers stating, “Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” “I gave my students a saying to say: 'I am somebody. I was somebody when I came. I'll be a better somebody when I leave.” Equipping our students with tools to mentally handle obstacles of the world when they have passed through us is the real work of Christianity because it is the same as he does for us.
