One day in the wedding her mother said "having the business like the fruit stand. Like off the street ….” Amy kind tan claims that her mother meaningful use of language relies on how much she understood. Some people claimed that they did not understand what her mother was saying because she was speaking Chinese instead of English.

Amy tan goes ahead and calls the English dialect that her mother spoke of being broken and being limited.
